Back and forth and back and forth, beep beep beep, and grind, grind, grind.
That was the soundtrack we listened to today! I never knew it was going to take soooo many concrete trucks to fill those little ditches, but it did! I lost count.
The footers are filled, and the supply company just came and dropped off a ton of concrete bricks, sand, and more concrete bags. We'll see what transpires tomorrow! The good news is that there isn't a lick of rain in the forecast, so I'm expecting good things in the next two weeks.
This is the only spot I can really make out. Where the fireplace goes!

I've never been so happy to hear the roar of construction equipment all day!
Woooohooooooooo! I stood in the keeping room this afternoon! lol
Well, what's going to be the keeping room! We are finally making some headway on our house. The builders started early last week. Then, they were broadsided by an idiot who ran a stop sign and were very lucky to survive! They took a not-so-joyous ride in an ambulance and took the rest of the week off, but I'm glad that they are healing and back on the job this week. Not just for the sake of my house, but for the McCaleb brothers and their families!
OK... so I know nothing about house building. From my perspective, today the trenches were dug that the concrete will fill to start the foundation. It's really kinda weird to look at this dirt and know that years down the road this day will be just a distant memory. I'm so excited and can't wait to watch it grow into my family's home!
This is the very back corner of the house, which will be a little covered porch off the kitchen. The keeping room in the middle and another closed in porch off the back. The far other side will be the master.

Here we go!
Today, the builders came and measured the spot where our new home will be built. They used four wooden stakes and bore each one of them to mark the corners of the house. Afterward, LaTrelle and I stood, grass under our feet, and faced the road as if we were on the front porch, both of us imagining the view and making sure this was exactly where we wanted the house to go. We were standing much as we did on our wedding day, gazing up the aisle at the doorway past our family and friends, eager to start our new lives together. As I glanced at the dirt drive crossing the pond my husband so lovingly built, I am thinking about how fast time will fly by, and how in a few short months, we'll be viewing that drive from a mixture of wood and nails, and then from our completed home. Many times, the Good Lord willing, it'll be the same view I'll check for LaTrelle coming in from work, for headlights of curfew makers, and although years from now, for my children to return with grandchildren.
I cried in every room of the Wood Estates house when we moved. Those walls were witness to much love, lots of baby rocking, and giggly rough-housing. It's hard to believe that in a short time, we will be in our dream home... our final home to house all the memories yet to come. We are beyond excited, and covet your prayers as we build our home, not only out of earthly materials, but of Godly foundations and abounding love.

More Than a Home
It's a place to raise your family,And a place to laugh with friends. It's a place to put your feet up,And rest at the work day's end. With space to store your treasures,And space to make your own,It's a place to play,It's a place to love,It's the place that you call home.

The land soon after we dammed the pond. The house is going on the middle hill.
